Anna & Ethan Ellermann

Anna & Ethan Ellermann

Congratulations Anna & Ethan Ellermann!!!

September 22, 2014

This past Saturday I got to go to Anna and Ethan's wedding reception...which was on this amazing farm land that seemed to be hidden in the middle of nowhere Tennessee. It was perfect how they had everything set up from the lights strung up to the photo booth. I brought my camera with just incase the moment presented itself. So these are a few of the pictures I got while I was there.

Sparklers

Anna & Ethan Ellermann

I have been taking my camera with me (I take my camera everywhere) to Kimbro's on Tuesdays for their Deconstructed Song Writers Night to hopefully catch a live performance or two worth recording and this past Tuesday I got a couple of songs from Zach Hackett. Here is one that I think you'll like!

That about wraps its up for this post...I have been working on a million different things lately and will be posting those said things as soon as I have them finished. I am gathering art for the next photo zine so if you're photographer or artist/writer send me an email and I will totally feature your work! I am still looking for people for my portrait project! I would like to reach a hundred and them make a book out of all of them so if you have some free time or you are in need of head shots feel free to contact me!

Keep doing what you love...

Rock Island, Petchat and not taking a month to update this blog...

August 28, 2014

A week ago today I had the pleasure of going to Rock Island with a solid group of friends! It was a well needed day filled with cliff jumping, rock climbing, sun bathing and picture taking. Above and Below are a few shots from that day.

Rock Island, TN

Butterfly and Flowers Rock Island, TN

After I get off of work on Tuesday nights I always rush over to catch the last remaining acts performing at Kimbro's Legendary Pickin' Parlor. Tuesday nights is their open mic night or as they call it The Deconstructed Songwriters Night. The past two weeks I've taken my camera with me and had the chance to record some of the performances. Which sparked the idea in my head to do a series or possibly a mini documentary. I'm planning on asking some of the regulars there to do a two or three song live performance for me followed by a short interview about who they are and the music they play. So keep a look out on my blog in the future for some of the interviews. Below are three songs from the group Petchat.

Okay so I hope you enjoy the Petchat videos! You should totally check out Kimbro's Cafe' on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. I know I've said this before but I will be starting to update this blog at least two times a week from this day forward! I have a little more free time as of late so I will be working on all the things I haven't had time for in the last couple of months!

That's it for now! Keep doing what you love and head on over to Downtown Franklin this upcoming September 5th I will showing some of my photos during the Art Crawl! Hope to see you there!!!

Tri-X, Pentax, Puppies and a Short Film...Holla.

July 24, 2014

So I'd say its due time for a blog update. Just the other day I bought a Pentax P3n 35mm film SLR made in the 80's. I've picked this camera up at least 10 plus times contemplating buying it and finally I just caved and made it apart of the family. I immediately loaded it with my last roll of Tri-X 400 and began to see what this camera was all about. I did cheat a little bit and look it up on YouTube because I wasn't sure on how to adjust the ISO. From what I saw about the camera it got a bunch of great reviews and I did a google image search and it looked like I made the right decision in shelling out the 45 dollars for this forgotten gem. The above photograph was taken of my friend and coworker Ben Brooks. As soon as I got my pictures back from being developed I was completely sold on this camera. Only thing I wish I would have done different is just taken my time a little more with this roll of film. Just due to the fact that it was my last roll of black and white and well in the small town of Franklin, TN it's not really the easiest thing to get your hands on. Luckily I do have a ton of Kodak Color Max 400 speed that I got on discount when Target was getting rid of their film section. I am posting a couple more shots from that roll below.

Okay so I've been working on a short film/music video for a instrumental song I wrote months ago on an old out dated version of Fruity Loops. Since the day I started putting the song together I've had this vision in my mind. I finally started mapping it out on Adobe Story...which by the way is an awesome FREE screen writing program thats makes it so easy for you to layout a script. If you're into writing in that format it's definitely worth giving it a go! I got to start shooting some of the B roll today with Ben who is playing the main male lead roll and his girlfriend Joanna who is playing one of the love interests. This is going to be a love triangle story where the boy doesn't walk away with either of the girls. After I got home from shooting I unloaded the SD cards onto my computer and started going through and trimming down the usable clips. After color grading and piecing them together to the music I started to get this feeling inside of pure excitement. Just the little bit we filmed today fit so well with the music. I can't wait to start shooting the actual scenes. I am just super glad I decided to move forward with this vision I've been playing over and over again in my mind. Due to working two pretty demanding jobs it's going to take a little while to get this completed. I will keep updating the further along I get with all of this. I also intend on doing some behind the scenes stuff when I can get an extra hand on the days we shoot. So keep a look out!

One last thing...I got to do some dog sitting over the weekend with two pretty amazing doggies! I just wanted to share a few of the photos I got from that weekend. I didn't get a chance to scan the funny polaroids yet but I will posts those on Facebook or Instagram.

timothy.makeups Hits 100 Likes on Facebook...

June 18, 2014

Yesterday the timothy.makeups Facebook page got its 100th like! Which is just so awesome! It's amazing how far this has all come in the span of a year. I just want to thank everyone for all the kind words and the support! Above and below are three shots I got this week at Diamond Carter's practice space. Take a minute to check out their website at www.diamond-carter.com

Okay so I had the chance to take a couple pictures of the Ice Water Challenge that McCreary's Pub in Downtown Franklin kicked off this week for Neurofibromatosis. Check out the full story that the Williamson Source covered. [http://williamsonsource.com/mccrearys-pub-cools-off/

I saved the best for last...I had the honor of capturing a good friend of mine's family portrait. Ryan Toll singer song writer for the band Tumbleweed Company had asked me a while ago to surprise his parents when they came to visit with an updated family portrait. They were trying to stay away from the super cheese Sears style portrait that they have done in the past. I was more than willing to do that for them because his mom is one of my biggest supporters on Facebook and Ryan is one of the coolest guys I know! So below are a few of the shots we got that day walking around Downtown Franklin.

So that's it for this post...It has been way to long since I've updated this blog! I am going to be holding a small contest in the next week or two for an artist to design a workable logo for my photography site! So keep a look out for that! Until next time keep doing what you love!!!

Batman building Nashville, TN

Busy, Busy, Busy and yes...Busy.

April 27, 2014

Lets open the post with the picture above. This building has become a bench mark. Knowing that the city is just minutes away. I got to take little over a week off of work so I could spend some long awaited time with my family and just catch up on my sanity. During my vacation I got little to no personal work done (which was the point). But I did get to see and do things I normally wouldn't have had the time to do. It just made me realize how lucky I am for the amazing family, friends and acquaintances I have in my life. Okay enough of the mushy stuff!!! I am going to just add a few of the photographs I did get in the past couple of weeks.

Black Boots

Nashville Zoo

So I've been back to work for over a week now and I must say that I have barely had time to even think about pulling my camera out let alone plan out and new shoot ideas. But I have been following the photographer Ryan Muirhead and once again he has inspired me to get back to work full force on my personal work. Cause truly it makes me the happiest when I follow through with a shot idea or put out one of my photography zines. So issue #003 is finally getting finished.  Its been long in the making.

Sleep is calling me...Six in the morning will be here before I know it! Until next time...keep doing what you love!

This Week, Issue #003 and Portrait Project...

April 9, 2014

It's been crunch time this week for issue #003. I am really happy with all of the content going into this issue. So I'm hoping to have that all ready for print by Monday the 14th! The above picture is of my bedroom work space where I do all of my editing and youtube watching as seen in the picture!

Below are a couple of shots from this week.

I still need as many people as I can get to be apart of this so feel free to contact me in the contacts section. I am also looking to take on a few more jobs as in head shots, engagement or band photography in the next couple of months to expand my portfolio so send me a message for a rate and my availability!  So that about sums it up for this week! Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful

It's about time...

March 27, 2014

It's been a very busy month since my last post. Thankfully it has finally slowed down enough to get timothy.makeups back on track. The above picture was taken a couple of years ago back when I was still living in Pennsylvania. It's actually going to be used for the inlay for the upcoming Tumbleweed Company CD release Village. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to help these guys out with the live and studio photographs I did for them. I am also putting together a short video featuring their time in the studio a couple of months ago. So keep on the lookout for that in the next week or so.

Below I put a few of the photographs I've taken in the past couple of weeks.

Just yesterday I got my new Nikon D700 in the mail. I can't explain how happy I am to be switching to a full frame professional camera. I just couldn't be happier!

I also picked up a Argoflex at Carpe Diem. It's a twin lens reflex camera from the 1940's that uses 120mm film. I got to shoot one roll so far which now comes real challenge with picking a place to develop it! I will be posting those photos as soon as i have the scans.

One last thing is I have started putting together issue #003 of the timothy.makeups photo zine. So as soon as that is all together I will let everyone know!!! So that's about it for now! Keep checking back for updates! Also if you live in the area make sure to stop into Carpe Diem they have a ton of awesome old records, antiques and a bunch of older camera equipment! I find something every time I find myself in there!

I still need to get my Bio page up and running and also I'm going to have a section for ordering prints or copies of the timothy.makeups photo zine. I'm looking for a spot to set up for First Fridays this month so I'll have more on that when I have more details!

So yes...keep doing what you love! Have a great week! Enjoy!

Couples & Best Friend February...

February 22, 2014

Hello again! It's been a pretty busy past week and a half for timothy.makeups! I got to work with two great couples. Above is Ben Brooks and Rachel Oglesby...two great kids that I have the pleasure of working my day job with. Ben is moving to Canada this week so we wanted to do a farewell photo shoot so they'd both have something to remember this last week together. It was also a great chance for me to get another portrait in my home studio!

I also got to work with another great couple Betsy and Ryan. These pictures will be used for a Save the Date wedding information card they are having made. It was a super nice Sunday afternoon the day of the shoot. We got to walk around Downtown Franklin looking for the perfect location. All in all I had a great time working with them!

I am still working on getting people/models for my portrait project. So far it's been coming together as planned. I have a shoot scheduled this upcoming week for two more models. If you're interested in posing for me just go to the contact section of my website and drop me a message so we can set something up. timothy.makeups photo zine issue #003 is taking submissions so if you're a photographer, artist or writer please feel free to email me some of your work for review! It's always a blast being busy doing the things I love to do! So until next time have a great week!

Canonet QL19, Kodak 400 Print Film...

February 4, 2014

Hello! I got a roll of Kodak 35mm color print film developed last night. I shot the roll with my new/old Canon Canonet QL19. I was a little worried about the light seals on this camera but I had nothing to fear cause everything works great and the images came out exactly how I wanted them to. So it's safe to say I found my walking around camera! Above and below are some of the images from the Canonet.

This Friday night I will be at 12th & Porter w/ Tumbleweed Company  they are opening up for the band Cornmeal. The venue is super awesome and I have been wanting to shoot Tumbleweed there for a while now so its going to be a real good time you should totally come out and get your music on or your picture taken by me haha! So I should have a few of those pictures for my next Tuesday blog update. Also I have about four or five of the color issue #002's left so email me or shoot a text if you'd want one before they are all gone! It was a limited run of only 15. If you would rather have a b&w copy they are also available. I think that's about it for today. Enjoy!

Four Hour Photo...

January 18, 2014

I'm going to make this quick...I had a roll of 35mm Lomography 400 color negative film developed yesterday and i just couldn't be happier with the results. Above and below are a few of the scans.

I will be creating a new section strictly dealing with the film/analog side of my recent photography. I currently have 3 rolls of 120mm film shot with my Holga toy camera out for processing which I am super excited to see the outcome of all those!

The makeups photo zine is finally going to be available come Thursday or Friday of this upcoming week so feel free to email me and leave me your address so I can have one mailed out to you. I'm also going to make a digital copy available for download. Keep checking back!!!

Tumbleweed Company, Ken Coomer, Creative Workshop...

January 9, 2014

Yesterday I had the pleasure to go and photograph my friends Tumbleweed Company at Creative Workshop in Nashville. They are currently working on a 5 song ep that is being recorded/produced by former Wilco drummer Ken Coomer. I'm telling you everything I got to hear yesterday was just absolutely amazing! They could release the instrumentals right now and they would be a smash. I got some really great behind the scenes footage that I'm excited to start editing. All in all it truly was a great day. I wish these guys great success and  I look forward to working with them again in the future! Above and below are a few of  the shots from yesterday. Enjoy!

It's Impossible...

December 26, 2013

Happy Holidays!! I got to spoil myself this Christmas with buying a couple packs of the Impossible Project 680 instant film. I'm about half way through my first pack and I am not surprised with just how awesome the shots are coming out! Above is the first photograph I took of the power lines across the street from my house. I was blown away by the color in this picture! I also got to pick up a couple of rolls of the 100 and 400 speed Lomography color negative film packs at Urban Outfitters. I got some really awesome results before shooting the 100 speed with my Nikon EM90.  Below I'm putting a couple of my favorites from the first roll I shot. Again the color is just amazing and it reminds me of something straight out of the 70's or 80's.

In other news I did a little mash-up to the timothy.makeups photo zine issue #002. For this issue I am going to be featuring three other photographers/artists including myself. I am really happy with all of the work going into the next zine. From time to time I would really like to reach out and offer some space for other artists, photographers and writers to share their work. I should have everything submitted by the end of this week so all that is left to do is finalize the layout and BOOM issue #002 will be in your hands! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and until next time have a good one!

issue #002

Work it...

December 11, 2013

The timothy.makeups photo zine issue #002 is now in the process of being completed. It took a little bit longer than I had intended for this issue to be ready but I really wanted to double the amount of content and put more time into the actual layout and design. As the first issue was pretty must a mash-up of pictures that I've taken throughout the last couple of months with no real theme to the project. This time around I am using different types of photos such as 35mm B&W, Impossible Project film, Instax Mini and of course my Nikon DSLR. So in the next couple of weeks I will be sending the final files to my printer and the rest is history! I will post as soon as they are ready to be had.

Thanks for stopping by!
